Senior Inspector in Aviation Engineering Safety - GCAA
Mr. Sumer graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with Master’s degree by having extensive studies in the fields of aircraft dynamics and control, avionics, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, artificial intelligence and programming. He has 17 years of experience in the aviation industry.
He joined to aviation industry in 2007 within Turkish Technic, the largest MRO of Turkey. In this company, he played a vital role in the establishment of first EASA Part 21 Design Organisation for civil aviation. Mr. Sumer was assigned in several management positions, lately as the Head of Airworthiness Postholder. More than 1000 minor aircraft modifications/repairs and 20 Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) were managed and approved by his involvement. He was also nominated as an official instructor for Part 21 related courses in Turkish Technic.
Mr. Sumer joined Etihad Engineering in 2018. He transferred his experience and knowledge to the team with many trainings and daily communications. Many new achievements gained with the team in STC level projects. He was nominated as an EASA/GCAA Postholder for the Design Organisation in 2022. He has wide understanding of PART/CAR-21, PART/CAR-145, PART/CAR-M and PART/CAR-147 daily work interactions. Mr. Sumer has also extensive knowledge in aviation regulations.
Besides industry, Mr. Sumer hold the instructor position in Turkish Air Force Academy between 2008-2011 and delivered courses such as Aircraft Design, Research and Development Techniques. Also worked as Senior Instructor recently in Abu Dhabi Polytechnic Al Ain in 2024.
Currently Mr. Sumer is working as Senior Inspector in Aviation Engineering Safety in GCAA
